Congratulations President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris
November 7, 2020
The UnidosUS Action Fund congratulates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on a hard-fought and well deserved victory. This election was historic for many reasons and we applaud Joe Biden on being elected our 46th President of the United States. We are also excited that Latinos made history electing our first female vice president, who also happens to be the first female person of color to be elected to national office. Only Joe Biden can say that he served for the first Black President and with the first female Vice President of our nation.
As we expected, the Latino vote was a determining factor in this year's election, and the Latino vote will impact state and national elections in future years. The UnidosUS Action Fund played a big part in mobilizing our community this cycle, and there were a lot of lessons learned that will only strengthen us for future success.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the Latino vote by wide margins in the critical states that mattered to their victory. The cornerstone of this historic mobilization was in Arizona and Nevada. In particular, we applaud the countless community organizers in both states. We are incredibly proud of the many community organizations that worked hard to change Arizona's political dynamics since the passing of anti-immigrant legislation in the state a decade ago.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris also won the Latino vote in the all-important states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Although we fell short in Florida, where the UnidosUS Action Fund had our biggest canvassing operation, we are hopeful that we can turn the tide in years to come. Overall, we are proud to have played a part in turning out the country's historic Latino vote.
We will use this election to remind everyone that there's still much work to be done to mobilize Latinos across the country. The real work begins now as we work with the incoming administration to roll back the racist policies of Donald Trump and forge a positive path forward for our community.
