WASHINGTON, DC - Today, UnidosUS Action Fund, a Latino advocacy organization that works to expand the influence and political power of the Latino community through civic engagement and issue-based campaigns, is calling on Latinos across the country to repudiate the attacks emerging from Florida and the DeSantis administration. 

 

The digital ad, titled “We Deserve More” seeks to underscore the valuable contributions of Latinos in the United States and the dangerous DeSantis-led rhetoric and policies which threaten the lives of Latinos and all Americans everywhere.

WE SERVE. WE’RE LEADERS. WE VOTE FOR OUR VALUES AND OUR FAMILIES. 

THAT’S WHY WE REJECT THE HATE AND BAD POLICY FROM REPUBLICANS LIKE RON DESANTIS. 

 

HIS LAWS MAKE FLORIDA MORE DANGEROUS… DIVIDED… AND EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE.

“It took less than a month from the end of Florida’s disastrous legislative session to start seeing the devastating impact that these policies are having both on residents and communities nationwide,” said UnidosUS Action Fund Executive Director Rafael Collazo. “While DeSantis’ attack on immigrant communities spreads fear among workers and brings entire industries to their knees, Floridians are left grappling with real problems, including an affordable housing and home insurance crisis that worsens by the day, oppressed wages that have been coupled with an untenable cost of living, and a worsening climate crisis that is displacing hundreds of thousands of people every year.

 

“As a collective, Latinos in the U.S. represent the fifth largest GDP in the world and serve as the biggest drivers of wealth creation, entrepreneurship, home ownership, and consumption of goods. As such, they wield an incredible amount of power and influence in deciding the future of our country and it is imperative that they remain vigilant and engaged and that they stand up against these draconian policies that only serve to disenfranchise them and their families from the political process.”
