The UnidosUS Action Fund Launches Ad to Pressure U.S. Senate to Pass Build Back Better Act

Jan 27, 2022

WASHINGTON -- The UnidosUS Action Fund launched a new video ad calling on the United States Senate to pass the Build Back Better Act as negotiations appear to have stalled. The digital ad will primarily target Latino voters in Arizona, Florida, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.

Latinos are the backbone of this country, yet the Build Back Better Act, a much-need legislative framework that would improve the lives of millions of Latinos, is on pause. As of 2020, Latinos are 18.7 percent of the total U.S. population but account for 28.1 percent of the population in poverty. The legislation would help address many of the inequities in access to healthcare, higher education, and housing faced by many Latinos, a community that continues to be disproportionately represented in low-wage jobs.

To ensure that every community emerges stronger from the pandemic and combat systemic inequities that have affected Latinos and other communities of color communities for decades, the Senate must pass the Build Back Better Act. The Build Back Better Act is not only a historic investment in the nation’s infrastructure and the care economy, but also a measure that will create jobs, cut taxes, and lower costs for millions of working Latino families. The Senate must finish the job and send a bill for President Biden’s signature, now.

The ad is available here and the script is below.

“BBB”The Latino community is constantly asked to do more.

And when we finally think we’re going to get the help we deserve, we’re always expected to accept less.

¡Ya Basta! We need action now.

Senate, pass the Build Back Better Act. Deliver on lower taxes & drug prices, immigration reform, paid leave and all of the support Latinos need.

Pass the Build Back Better Act.

The UnidosUS Action Fund works to expand the influence and political power of the Latino community through civic engagement and accountability.
