Washington, DC – "Today’s dangerous decision by the U.S. Supreme Court puts the personal health decisions women make about their bodies in the hands of politicians. Make no mistake, this decision is a violation of women’s rights, autonomy, and their health.
"While all women are impacted by this ruling, women of color will be affected disproportionately given they are less likely to have insurance, less likely to have access to reproductive services, and are criminalized at higher rates, making them increasingly vulnerable to prosecution.
"This decision is going to have immediate consequences for women in states that have already passed some of the restrictive laws on the books. We call on Congress to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade as federal law.
"Make no mistake, this year’s midterm elections are paramount to ensuring that we have elected officials on all levels that are committed to protecting our rights. We will continue to call out these hypocrisies and work to register and engage Latina voters to make sure their voices are heard at the ballot box in November."
